(((CAUTION: DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER UNLESS YOU LOVE SPOILERS!!!)))
I laughed a bit when I found out about this cameo, but I assure you, sources are saying that it is real.
Here is your last warning. There are big SPOILERS AHEAD for the premier episode of Preacher. Turn back now if you do not want to know them.
Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon wrote a comic series that was edgy for the mid-1990’s. The premise is that Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) is a preacher who is possessed by an angel/demon crossbreed known as Genesis. This possession grants Custer with immense power. During the possession, his church blew up, killing most of his congregation.
According to Entertainment Weekly, The entity tried to possess many preachers before Custer, but their bodies weren’t able to handle it and exploded. According to sources, the pilot episode starts off showing a montage of exploding preachers. Reports are saying that one of the preachers during this scene is none other than Tom Cruise, standing outside of a Scientology church. Show producer, Evan Goldberg talked about the cameo and whether any reluctance was shown to get Cruise for the scene:
“It’s amazing, no one said anything! We kept waiting for somebody to say ‘no’ and now it’s too late.”
As if you haven’t gotten your fill of Tom Cruise dying, after seeing Edge of Tomorrow. So, check out Preacher when it premiere’s on May 22.
