Actor Cary Elwes cannot remain silent upon hearing reports that Sony Pictures is entertaining potential pitches for a Princess Bride remake.

In this modern era of reboots, it seems Hollywood is forgetting that there should be a group of untouchable films. Films so perfect, that any attempt to capture some of their magic in a reboot just sent possible.
If I was to make this list, it would start with Princess Bride. For any interested readers, a few of these other films are Jaws, E.T., Back to the Future, and The Big Lebowski. They are essentially perfect films in my opinion.

Elwes was the male lead, Westley, in the 1987 Rob Reiner film. Elwes commented on the reports via his Twitter account, saying:
“There’s a shortage of perfect movies in this world. It would be a pity to damage this one.”
Elwes comment comes on the heels of a Variety profile on legendary TV producer Norman Lear. Included in the article is a comment from Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Tony Vinciquerra who said:

“We have so many people coming to us saying, ‘we want to remake this show or that show’. Very famous people whose names I won’t use, but they want to redo The Princess Bride.”
Early impressions indicate that a reboot of The Princess Bride is quite possible, although there is no indication of movement yet. If there was a film in the works, you could bet that Vinciquerra wouldn’t be so loose-lipped.
