Director Zack Snyder made a lot of missed steps in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The film divided fans in multiple directions. The big question fans had was, “Why Snyder decided to allow Ben Affleck’s Batman to kill people with ease?

Why would Snyder allow the Caped Crusader to go against his core code of not killing? It is a principle which drives Batman. It’s a big reason why the Dark Knight is the way he is.

In a recent Q&A on Redditas part of his The Director’s Cut screenings, director Zack Snyder addressed this question. The director even says he was surprised at fans reactions to the film:

“Someone says to me: [Ben Affleck’s] Batman killed a guy. I’m like, ‘f—, really? Wake the f— up. I guess that’s what I’m saying.

Once you’ve lost your virginity to this f—ing movie and then you come and say to me something about like ‘my superhero wouldn’t do that.’ I’m like ‘Are you serious?’ I’m like down the f—ing road on that.

It’s a cool point of view to be like ‘my heroes are still innocent. My heroes didn’t f—ing lie to America. My heroes didn’t embezzle money from their corporations.

My heroes didn’t f—ing commit any atrocities.’ That’s cool. But you’re living in an f—ing dream world.

So the cool thing is like mythologically-speaking I’m 100% fine and by the way, I love anything more than Superman and Batman, but in the same way that Alan Moore was fed up with the f—in’ like OK ‘no ya know .. they do THIS.”

Although the film was divisive, it still made a ton of money ($873 million at the box office). Snyder’s ‘Ultimate Edition’ clocks in at 183 minutes. This length makes Batman v Superman the longest superhero film. Although a recently deleted tweet confirms Avengers: Endgame matches that length.
