Every Movie And TV Show They Watch on the Space Station

International Space Station, NASA

Have you ever wondered what astronauts do in their free time aboard the International Space Station? You know, besides doing flips and eating liquid droplets in zero-G. Everyone needs a little down time, even when you are fulfilling a childhood dream about being in space. So what do they occupy their downtime with? How about a movie? Yes, they watch movies, just like the rest of us.

NASA astronauts used to have to use their own devices to watch movies, but in 2009, astronaut Michael Barratt changed all that. He wanted to watch the new Star Trek movie, and set up a small movie theater using his laptop. That was 2009, now things have changed.

In 2015, astronaut Scott Kelly tweeted an image of the ‘new’ movie setup aboard the ISS. The image can be seen below of the HD TV setup with the movie Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock, on. This might not be the best movie to watch up there, but what do I know?

So, that brings up the next question: What movies do they have aboard the ISS? According to io9, the movie list is quite extensive.

Check out the complete list of movies and television shows aboard the ISS below:
