‘Fantastic Beasts’ To Be a Five-Movie Franchise

In a rather peculiar announcement, J.K. Rowling announced that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will not be a trilogy as previously assumed. Rather, the franchise Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be a five-film series! This is great news for Harry Potter fans, seeing as this is a spin-off of that seven-film series.

Rowling made the announcement during a fan screening of the film and cast Q&A. The cast Q&A was broadcast live on the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Official Facebook Page. Here is an official synopsis for the film:

The year is 1926, and Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident, were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

Rowling wrote the screenplay for the first film, and is working on the sequel. Piggy-backing the Q&A video is a new featurette for the film, giving us tons of new footage and added details about the Harry Potter spin-off. Check it out below:

I cannot wait for this movie to hit theaters! It will be wonderful to return to the Wizarding World that Rowling made us all cherish in the Potter films.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits theaters on November 18.
