Fans of the CW show The Flash had a big rollercoaster of twists and turns to survive through during Season 3’s epic run to take down Savitar. Where will the show head next? The fourth season will definitely bring new adventure, with Barry Allen gone, Iris still alive, and Wally West taking over as Central City’s primary Flash. Season Four will say goodbye to Tom Felton (Harry Potter), Who has yet to sign for season 4 even for a guest appearance. What does this mean moving forward for The Flash?
Tom Felton’ Julian Albert is out for season four, but he will more-than-likely pop-up for a cameo in the future. With season four on the horizon, showrunner Tom Helbing says that The Flash will bring fun back to the show, that has been dark and gloomy since the introduction of Savitar. Helbing tells Comic Book:
“Last year, once we showed Iris die in the future, to keep up that doom and gloom, it becomes a burden, and not just on us writing-wise, on the show and it just sort of had this pall over the season that I think we didn’t expect to be so heavy.
I’m not trying to say anything bad about season 3. I love season 3, and I love Savitar, and I love the story we told, but I think that’s about as dark as I ever want to go with the show.
So yeah, I think that was a conscious effort of ours to really go back to everybody enjoyed being on this team and with each other, and make The Flash have fun again. I’m really excited about the scripts so far; they’re really, really funny.”
With Wally West in the driver’s seat, The Flash will be able to stretch his legs a bit without all of the baggage Barry Allen carries with him. According to Grant Gustin (Barry Allen), the overall goal of the writers is to adapt the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” storyline from the DC comics.
