Jared Leto Eyes Potential Role as Valiant Comics’ ‘Bloodshot’

A while back, news broke that Valiant Comics was looking to create their own Cinematic Universe, with Bloodshot being the first hero to come to the big screen for them. A recent report says that Suicide Squad star Jared Leto (Blade Runner 2049) is being courted for the role by Sony Pictures. Will Let0 make the jump from DC to Valiant?

His casting would bring a big name in Hollywood to the project, but is Leto the right man for the job? His eccentric approach to acting works some of the time (Dallas Buyers Club), but he is also an unnecessary distraction (Suicide Squad). Bloodshot is currently in production, with Fast and Furious producer Neal Moritz, Toby Jaffe, and director Dave Wilson behind the wheel.

Bloodshot debuted in 1992. He’s an expert killer with nanites in his blood that allow super strength, tissue regeneration, shape shifting, and more. The most interesting about the character, though, is that he was once a normal guy with a family. But, once he became a super soldier, false memories were implanted in his mind to make him forget about all that.

Jason David Frank (Power Rangers) will get a shot at the role, when Bloodshot stars in Ninjak vs. the Valiant Universe. Bloodshot was previously aiming for a 2018 release, but that is unlikely given the timeframe to complete the film. A 2019 release date is more likely.
