Tom Holland Has a 6-Film Contract for ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

Spider-Man, Marvel Comics

What do you do when you are one of the most-coveted characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Whatever a spider can! When you land a gig with Marvel, there is no doubt that a multi-film contract will come with the bargain. Some actors and actresses have had issues with the rigorous Marvel schedule in the past. This may be problematic, but it helps Marvel tell a bigger scope of story if they have their entire toy box to play with. Tom Holland is no exception to this practice.

According to Holland, when he signed on to be Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-man for the MCU, he signed a 6-film contract. That means that the web-slinger isn’t going anywhere any time soon. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Tom Holland talked about his deal to play Spidey for Marvel, and what he revealed opens up a slew of other questions:

“They give you options, and those could be exercised whenever. Like a cameo in Avengers. I’m unclear as to which movies, though. I do know I have three Spider-Man movies and three solo movies contracted. But if you have another movie, Marvel is so good at working around it. They’re very respectful of your life, really. They understand that you have to work on other movies, and they try to fix it up so you can work around each other.”

What are the 3 solo movies that Tom Holland is talking about? It could already be assumed that Marvel would be doing a whole new Spider-Man trilogy, but is the ‘3 solo movies’ tag there for when they want to use Spider-Man in the future? Or are these movies already in the works, with the first on being Captain America: Civil War. That would mean the other two would be the Avengers: Infinity War films.

This would mean that we may potentially only have Spidey for his stand alone films after Infinity War passes. This would be a complete bummer for fans, but I’m sure that Marvel has a contingency worked out in there somewhere.

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters next year, on July 7, 2017.
