First Clips from ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Emerge Ahead of Streaming Launch

Star Trek: Discovery, CBS/ Netflix

Star Trek: Discovery has seen all sorts of behind-the-scenes issues from delays to rumors, but finally the CBS All-Access & Netflix show will hit the streaming services in two weeks. Good things are worth the wait, but it is nice to know that the wait is over. Two clips from the show are here, and they look great.

In the first clip, the crew is on a desert planet. Captain Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh) talking with Lt. Commander Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) about working together and the arrival of the U.S.S. Shenzhou.

The second clip shows Lt. Commander Burnham decked out in an EVA suit, when she has a confrontation with an armored Klingon. This clip looks great, and the facelift that the franchise is getting looks unique. It is a good direction for a streaming franchise that is trying to distance itself from the action blockbusters that J.J. Abrams made and the original Trek series.

This scene is great, and has some wonderful tension-filled moments. This is really going to be a great series, and one that Star Trek fans everywhere will enjoy. It looks like Star Trek: Discovery is bringing the science back to Star Trek. This is a good thing, as most Trek fans weren’t happy with the Abrams films due to their abandonment of true science.

Star Trek: Discovery’s cast also includes Jason Isaacs as the starship Discovery’s Captain Lorca, Rainn Wilson as Star Trek: The Original Series character Harry Mudd, James Frain as Sarek, Spock’s father, and Michelle Yeoh as Captain Georgiou, the captain of another Starfleet ship, the Shenzhou, which will be important to the plot of Star Trek: Discovery. Doug Jones and Anthony Rapp both play science officers. Mary Wiseman will play a final year Starfleet Academy cadet.
