1st Official Trailer Released for Marvel’s ‘Black Widow’

Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff (a.k.a. Black Widow) has been a fan-favorite since her debut in Iron Man 2. She met her untimely demise during this year’s Avengers: Endgame but spirits were lifted when it was announced she would finally get her own movie.

For those attending several Comic Cons they saw footage but the general public has been in the dark… Until now.

Disney has released the first trailer for the Black Widow movie and you can watch it below:

An official poster arrived alongside it:

The trailer starts with a voice-over from Natasha and the return of William Hurt’s Thaddeus Ross. She decides to stop running from her past, bringing her back into the life of Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova.

It also shows the first-look at David Harbour’s Red Guardian and Rachel Weisz in a Black Widow type costume. Additionally, Natasha has several new costumes in the trailer. One of these is a surprising white costume in a snowy landscape.

Taskmaster appears to be the villain of the movie, but there’s no official confirmation on who is playing him (or her). It seems Taskmaster’s identity will be a twist and could be a supposed ally of Natasha’s.

The action scenes are looking incredible too. Fans are comparing it to Captain America: The Winter Soldier already. Personally I can’t wait to see the fight between Natasha and Yelena.

The trailer doesn’t explain the main plot but it seems to be about Natasha’s past coming back to haunt her. Filming locations included Budapest, which fans will remember as an offscreen event between Black Widow and Hawkeye.

Looking at the trailer, there’s a feeling Natasha will need to take on the Red Room where she was created. She won’t be doing it alone though as Red Guardian, Yelena, and Rachel Weisz’s Melina join her.

Black Widow is directed by Cate Shortland with a screenplay from Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson. It releases worldwide May 2020.
