G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Paramount Pictures

According to new sources, the G.I. Joe film franchise is not dead yet. A new tidbit says that a standalone film is in the works featuring fan-favorite character, Snake-Eyes. Film scribe Evan Spiliotopoulos (Beauty and the Beast, The Huntsman: Winter’s War) is in negotiations to write the script for Paramount Pictures.

Snake-Eyes is easily one of the most popular characters in the G.I. Joe franchise and first appeared in the early 1980s. He is a mysterious, dangerous character. Some believe that he served time as a recon ranger in the Vietnam War, or somewhere in the jungles of Southeast Asia. After that, he spent time on sabbatical (some believe) in Japan. Rumors say that he was training with the same ninja clan as Storm Shadow.

Other notable features of Snake-Eyes are that he never speaks, has never shown his face, and had a close bond with Scarlett. Ray Park portrayed the character in the previous films. Brian Goldner will produce the new film.
