‘Green is Gold’ is a Drug Film with a Twist, Coming to BluRay Dec 13

Green is Gold, Samuel Goldwyn Films

Who would ever think to set a serious drama on the marijuana farms of California, but this is exactly what Green is Gold did. Ryon Baxter loves a good challenge, and making a film on a micro budget he has succeeded in every way. Winning the audience award for best fiction feature at the LA Film Festival for his directorial début, Green is Gold, showcases not only Baxter’s skill, but his tenacity as well. He not only directed the film, but wrote it, and co-starred in it with his younger brother, Jimmy.

Green is Gold is a brilliant coming-of-age drama, whose climax will keep you on the edge of your seat. Yes, you could argue that the film would be more effective in a different setting, but it thrives in the chaos of illegal drug production. It has a DIY authenticity that shines, and allows the story to be told without the distractions of a larger budget film. Check out the trailer below:

Green is Gold is coming to Digital HD and On Demand on December 6, and home video and BluRay on December 13.

A thirteen-year-old boy is forced to live with his estranged brother after their father is sent to prison. Their relationship is soon tested when the older brother’s occupation as a cannabis farmer infringes on his ability not only to raise his brother, but to even take care of himself.  However, through constant tribulation, they discover the only way to get through the difficulties of life is to work together and try to beat the odds.
