The Super Bowl was one hell of a game, but one of the few things that topped the play on the gridiron were the movie trailers. Marvel came out swinging, with another great look at Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The film looks great, and this trailer gives us a few new looks at the film. The trailer gives us our first good look at the entire team, with the new additions of Mantis, Nebula, and Yondu. This trailer is the official introduction to the entire team. I am digging the color palette of this film. The over saturated hues go great with cosmic locations in the film. This is something that tells us Marvel is blending both of their cosmic properties: Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. This is a great thing for the MCU!
This is the first trailer that has a few great Nebula moments. She is still just as fierce as before. Wait, did you see that big ass gun Gamora was shooting? I am just overwhelmed with all the great stuff here. The song picked for this trailer is perfect, thank you James Gunn.
This trailer has a great Yondu and Baby Groot moment, becoming the Ravager to the team. It also shows us how Mantis will further play into the jokes of the film. I am really digging the airhead feel she has, and her dynamic with Drax the Destroyer. It is an awkward humor that I feel is going to be a focus point of the film, and really give us a new dynamic on the team.
There are a few locations features in the trailer, and some more segments of locations we have already seen.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
