Holcroft Returns From the Dead for ‘Kingsman’ Sequel

One of the best sleeper hits of 2015 was Kingsman: The Secret Service, which was a big treat to everyone who was able to catch the film in theaters. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, then do yourself a favor and watch it. It had the perfect amount of spy movie elements mixed in with violence to make any James Bond fan jump for joy. The movie also has one of my favorite fight scenes, the church scene for those of you that have seen it.

This movie succeeded in killing off almost ever character in the film, but it seems that the sequel will  see the return of one of the villains from the film. According to Deadline, Edward Holcroft will return to the role of Charlie Hesketh, Eggsy’s big rival during their tryout for Kingsman. Holcroft meets his maker near the end of the film, but it seems as though the screenwriters have found a way to include him in the sequel. Kingsman: The Secret Service 2 was greenlit last fall, and it seems as though production is moving ahead quickly.

When news of the sequel broke, there was speculation that we may see Colin Firth’s character return, but it seems that this may not be the case. Aaron Egerton has already signed on to reprise his role as Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin, a character that we saw go from street hood to secret agent in the first film. The setting has moved for the sequel, relocating to the United States.

Other actors that have signed on for the film include Halle Berry, who will be the head of the CIA,  and she has actually signed on for the second and third film in the series. Julianne Moore is also in talks to play the villain for Kingsman. Matthew Vaughn will be returning to the directors chair for the sequel that is now slotted to have a June 16, 2017 release.
