Jai Courtney Teases James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’

Jai Courtney was one of the best things about David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. Courtney was also a favorite of the critics. He’s one of the few characters returning for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.

Courtney, in a recent interview with Variety, talks about his excitement for the follow-up movie which takes the franchise in a completely different direction, albeit an extremely action-filled ridiculous one.

Courtney also took a moment to talk about his new film Stateless coming to Netflix:

“I think it’s [The Suicide Squad] kind of got a different flavor. There’s a whole bunch of new characters.

James Gunn has an approach to things that is uniquely his; he pulls a lot of that into the ‘Suicide Squad’ world. And I think that it fits really well, and audiences are going to have a lot of fun with it.

I am lucky that sometimes I’m making these small-budget gritty dramas like “Stateless,” and sometimes I’m out shooting big ridiculous action comedies like ‘Suicide Squad’.

To have feet on both of those trains is a lot of fun – and it also means that I never get tired of it.”

Although a lot of what Courtney says was assumable, It’s nice to know that the sequel will take the battiness to a whole new level. The entire franchise should be fun and flashy, comical and crazy. It seems that Gunn’s taking it in the right direction.

I’m still interested to see how Gunn will differentiate his Squad from the Guardians of the Galaxy film. Either way, it’s a very rare and peculiar dichotomy, and one i cannot wait to experience!

All that’s known about Gunn’s Squad is that you shouldn’t get too attached to any one character. Filming wrapped before the COVID-19 Pandemic. The film’s currently in post-production with eyes still set on the original release date.
