‘Joker’: Heroes Who Deserve the Elseworld Treatment

Rose Wilson & Cassandra Cain

The first entry on the list features not one, but two characters. Rose Wilson is sometimes an anti-hero and other times a villain who has a complicated past with her father, Deathstroke. Currently, she’s in Titans on DC Universe.

Cassandra Cain is a mute girl who was trained by her assassin mother, Lady Shiva. She doesn’t have much contact with anyone other than her mother until she escapes. Thus she’s mostly mute and illiterate. A version of Cassandra Cain is on the big screen right now in Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey.

Since this version is an Elseworld movie Cassandra can still be mute but grows up with Rose. It also helps since Rose has a brother who’s also mute. This can build a relationship between Rose and Cassandra as the latter finds someone who understands her.

Coming of age movies have always been popular with the general audience but their popularity has soared in recent years. This is due to media like IT and Stranger Things turning it on its head by using it with other genres. Warner Brothers and DC can cash in on this by bringing one out with Rose and Cassandra.

The premise of the movie can see the two teenagers feeling out of place and bonding over their newfound hatred from their parents. This can happen when they stumble upon the truth that their parents are assassins for hire. The two try to continue with their lives but they flee their parents.

Going on the run, the two will grow through the experience and it’ll lead them to a path of training to take down Deathstroke and Lady Shiva.

Sadie Sink could play the daughter of Slade Wilson. Rose needs someone who can be fun one moment, and serious the next. Sadie has shown in Stranger Things she possesses these qualities and is a fan-favorite, even though she is a late addition to the cast.

Casting Cassandra Cain is a difficult job but I think Anna Cathcart is more than up to the job. While her credits are for the Disney Channel, she has also featured in Netflix’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Plenty of actors from Disney have made it big and taken on more serious roles.
