Ted ‘Wildcat’ Grant

Ted Grant, aka Wildcat, is a vigilante who is inspired by the stories of the Green Lantern. He takes up the mantle to clear his name after he’s set-up in a boxing match. His story easily lends itself to an Elseworlds-type film that is a mix of Rocky and The Wrestler.

His previous live-action appearance is on Arrow but the character is wasted and never seen again after a fight. Giving him his own movie is a way to make up for it.

The movie focuses on Ted Grant from childhood to adulthood and how he journeys through the world of boxing. From the underdog to becoming a champion, Ted Grant’s life is chronicled.

However, it takes a turn when he’s set-up during a match and his opponent is killed. He is inspired by the comic books he reads of masked vigilantes and decides to take matters into his own hands.

As he fights to clear his own name, he realizes there’s more he can do as Wildcat. Seeing his neighborhood be targeted by corrupt officials, Wildcat vows to be its protector.

When his name is cleared, he returns to the boxing ring and continues to fight for those who can’t as the masked vigilante. The ending sees him retire from boxing and becomes a coach for those in his neighborhood.

Not only is the movie about struggling through adversity, it also focuses on race and how people like Ted Grant are treated because of their skin color. It reflects society as it is today while being set in varying time periods. Ted Grant will have several people portray him as he goes through teenage years and adulthood.

The teenage version of Ted Grant could be played by Chosen Jacobs. His credits include Mike Hanlon in It Chapter One & Two. He’s also in the Stephen King series Castle Rock.

Michael B. Jordan is a standout actor who can absolutely portray Ted Grant. He has the acting prowess and has shown his action chops in Black Panther, amongst others.
