Marvel’s ‘Iron Fist’ Will Ditch Yellow & Green Costume for Netflix Series

Iron Fist, Marvel Comics

The first season of Netflix’s show Iron Fist (starring Finn Jones as Danny Rand) will not feature the hero wearing his yellow and green costume from the comics. It is a different move from Daredevil, who had Matt Murdock in his suit by the season finale. The use of comic suits was more of a joke in Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.

If we do see Danny Rand in the green and yellow costume, it will probably be a joke as well. The show is set to hit Netflix Instant later this month. In an interview with SFX Magazine (via Games Radar), show runner Scott Buck says Danny Rand will not suit up in the comic suit because:

“There was no good reason we could imagine to put Danny Rand in a costume. Because Danny Rand is still discovering who he is as a hero and where he is going to be, so he’s not yet ready to put on a mask or a costume. … At the same time he is someone who is rather well-known as a billionaire, so he can’t necessarily go out in public and do the things he does without being recognized. It does become an issue for the character.

Iron Fist premieres on Netflix Instant on March 17. Danny Rand will return for the team-up series The Defenders which is shooting for a late summer release.

Fifteen years after being presumed dead in a plane crash, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) mysteriously returns to New York City determined to reclaim his birthright and family company. However, when a long-destined enemy rises in New York, this living weapon is forced to choose between his family’s legacy and his duties as the Iron Fist.

Marvel’s Iron Fist is developed by Scott Buck. Starring Finn Jones as Danny Rand, Jessica Henwick, David Wenham, Jessica Stroup, Tom Pelphrey, and Rosario Dawson.
