A brand new standalone Transformers film is moving forward for Hasbro and Paramount Pictures.
The film will approach the franchise with completely new eyes, and not tie into the previous five Michael Bay films or the Travis Knight-led Bumblebee spinoff.
Two other Transformer films are also in the early stages of production. This stand-alone film also seems unrelated to the rumored Steven Caple Jr.-helmed seventh film in the TF franchise.
It also doesn’t seem connected to the animated prequel linked to Josh Cooley (Toy Story 4).
Grossing over $4.8 Billion, the financial success of the entire franchise is the one thing that kept the Michael Bay films movie forward. These numbers stand in stark contrast to the dismal reviews that only worsened as the franchise moved forward.
The best reviewed film of the entire franchise is the spinoff film Bumblebee, that looked to distance itself from the franchise as a whole, and included character designs that closer resembled the actual original designs of some of the G1 transformers, rather than the Bay versions.
The only Michael Bay Transformers film to come close to Bumblebee’s critical reception was the original. With star power names like Meghan Fox and Shia LaBeouf driving the franchise.
Marco Ramirez (Netflix’s Defenders) will pen the script with Angel Manuel Soto (Charm City Kings) signed on to helm the film.
