Since 1929, the Academy Awards have been an annual staple of the film industry. Movies from Hollywood and beyond compete to take home the top prizes of the night. Of all the Oscars however, the specific statuette with the greatest distinction is the one awarded to “Best Picture”.
Over the years, 92 films have taken home the coveted award. There have been some highs (Parasite). There have been some lows (Crash). Some snubs (The Shawshank Redemption). And some true WTFs (La La Land Moonlight).
2021 brings its own unique twist to the precedings. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the ceremony is split over two different venues. We’ve yet to see how this will impact the overall evening. Expect the usual awkward jokes and lengthy runtime however.
As we gear up for the Oscars ceremony on the 25th April, we’ve decided to look at the 8 nominees for Best Picture, and see how they stack against one another.
