PlayStation 5 Not Coming Until at Least 2020

PlayStation 5, Sony

A big question on the minds of gamers is, “When are the new gaming consoles coming?” There was a time when new systems rolled out every other year. In a recent announcement, Sony says that the PlayStation 5 won’t drop during Sony’s 2019 fiscal year.

It is sad news for fans wanting the next big thing. It does indicate that both Microsoft and Sony are taking their time with the next consoles. It’s not a bad move considering both the PlayStation 4 and XBox One released with numerous issues.

The Sony announcement comes as part of the companies year-end earnings report. Sony’s fiscal year ends in March 2020. Sony released the first official details of the new console last month, but this announcement proves the technology isn’t quite ready yet.

The new console doesn’t have an official name as of yet, but the system boasts ray tracing graphics and includes a high-speed solid-state hard drive.

There is no word from Nintendo or Microsoft on their next-gen consoles. Rumors speculate that announcements should come sometime this year from both. This summer’s E3 looks like a good candidate for the announcements.
