The Ambassadors #4 is the next issue in the newest series from Millarworld. Mark Millar pens the script while Olivier Coipel provides the art for this issue. The Ambassadors is about a scientist who cracks the code for superpowers. However, rather than giving the powers to a Government or the highest bidder, she promises to give them to six people with a good heart.
While this review is spoiler-free for the newest issue, there will be big spoilers about the last issue. Therefore, if you haven’t read it, don’t read on.
The last issue introduces two heroes instead of one. They are a mother-and-son duo known as France and Paris. It’s a story about the love a mother has for her son and vice versa, while also furthering the story of the organisation that wants to steal the superpowers for their gain.
The Ambassadors #4 goes to Brazil where we meet a Priest who is surprised to be brought into the program. His city is under the thumb of an oppressive regime and he could save his city if he takes the powers. However, he also believes the power of God will do the work and he doesn’t need the superpowers. It’s an interesting philosophy to look at and the issue handles it well.
Providing the art for this issue is a familiar face to Millarworld. Olivier Coipel co-created The Magic Order with Mark Millar and was behind the art for the first volume. It’s great seeing him back and reminding us all of why we fell in love with The Magic Order art.
