Hugh Jackman Says He Will Not Team-Up With Deadpool

Logan, 20th Century Fox

Ryan Reynolds is one hell of a promoter. In the last few months, we have watched him petition the Academy for a coveted Oscar, rally the team back together to start on Deadpool 2, and basically try to bribe Logan star Hugh Jackman to return to the role of Wolverine for a Wolverine/Deadpool team-up movie.

Jackman has teased the possibility in past interviews, but he has stated in the past that Logan will be his last run as Wolverine on the big screen. We all know that minds do change from time-to-time, but Jackman seems adamant that this is his final film as the character. Over the last few weeks Jackman and Reynolds have been trading jabs over whether this team-up movie will come to fruition, but in a recent interview, Jackman lays this rumor to rest.

During a Facebook live interview this week, Jackman states that he is positive he will not join Reynolds in a comic team-up film for the ages:

“No, and Ryan is currently sleeping outside my house. [Laughs] Look, if that movie had appeared ten years ago, probably a different story, but I knew two and a half years ago that this was the last one.

The first call I made was to [Logan director James Mangold]. I said, ‘Jim, I got one more shot at this,’ and as soon as Jim came up with the idea and we worked on it, I was never more excited. But, it feels like the right time. Deadpool, go for it man, do your thing. You don’t need me.”

There have been reports that Reynolds filmed a credits scene for Logan, but recent reports state that the film may not even have a post-credits scene. Logan director, James Mangold recently confirmed the film doesn’t have a post-credits scene, but that there is something at the beginning fans will love. Does this mean that Logan features Deadpool in the very beginning of the film? We will see when Logan hits theaters.
