The Ambassadors #6 is the next issue in the newest series from Millarworld. Mark Millar pens the script while Matteo Scalera provides the art for this issue. The Ambassadors is about a scientist who cracks the code for superpowers. However, rather than giving the powers to a Government or the highest bidder, she promises to provide them to six people with a good heart.
While this review is spoiler-free for the newest issue, there will be significant spoilers about the last issue. Therefore, if you haven’t read it, don’t read on.
Issue five shows us the newest recruit to the Ambassadors Bob Taylor. With the codename Australia he embarks on a journey that eventually leads him to cross paths with a superpowered person who isn’t with the Ambassadors. Meanwhile, the villains are coming out of the shadows and who knows how it goes next.
Well, we will with this new issue.
The Ambassadors #6 opens differently from the others. The team’s now together and it’s time for their first group mission. Of course, it doesn’t take long for it to go off the rails and this is where we cross our stories. With this being the final issue, there’s no use in delaying the inevitable. Not a single panel is wasted before events come to a head.
There isn’t much else to say about the story without spoiling it. The Ambassadors wasn’t Millarworld’s first foray into the world of superheroes. However, it was different to what’s come before. Whether it’s Kick-Ass or Jupiter’s Legacy/Circle, The Ambassadors won’t remind you of them. This is something different and that’s what helps set it apart from the others.
The next time we see the team will be in the big crossover Big Game that arrives in July.
