Orphans episode six is the final episode in the interactive messenger mobile game from German developer Reality Games. It focuses on a group who go to an abandoned Orphanage for their social media channel. We, the player, control a character contacted by one of them when they find our number.
The episode is available in English, French and German. The latter was released several months ago and German players are making their way through the next game: ARGUS. While this review won’t have spoilers for Orphans episode six, there will be spoilers for the previous episodes. If you haven’t played them yet, don’t read further.
Furthermore, before we delve into the review, I want to be clear that even though I have a small voice role in episodes four and five it won’t prejudice my feelings towards it. It was an exciting opportunity but I’ll still be honest about how I felt with this episode.
Episode Six
Orphans episode six opens with a reminder of what’s come before. It propels us straight into the story and there’s barely much time to breathe. Mika is possessed by Belial, Amber’s back with her father and Sandy is dead. (I’m still not over that one, to be honest). As I mentioned in a previous review, there’s little we can do to help unless it’s investigating or being their eyes and ears. The real action is down to them.
This is where the real horror seeps through. These people may be fictional but between Reality Games and their actors, layered characters are created. For however long you’re playing the game, they become your friends, your enemies and your lovers. And it’s up to you to protect them and to make the decisions that effectively can protect them or kill them.
Unfortunately, I made such a mistake and it saw the death of a friend. But at least I’ll know for the next playthrough what is and isn’t possible. I’ll talk more about the characters later, possibly in a different review, but they’re every bit as good as those in The Healing and The Sign – Ghost Dimension.
Everything’s been building to this. Since Mika reached out to us on that fateful day a horrific destiny has been following our every move. The Bearers of Light will stop at nothing to set a destructive future in stone. This is prevalent through their actions within this episode in particular. Be prepared for a whiplash of horror, betrayal, loss, fun and puzzles to scratch your head at. And also prepare yourself for making the ultimate choice that decides the fate of the Reality Games world.
Fans of the author chat will be happy to know there’s at least one of them in this episode. It’s quite possibly in my top 3 of the author chats. In fact, it even comes with its own storyline and if that isn’t wonderful then I don’t know what is. It’s always something exciting to look forward to among the doom and gloom.
One of my issues in the previous review is different in Orphans episode six. There’s more time to connect with the characters and to get to know them better. Even though the fate of the world is in our hands, we still get to understand more of the people with us. By the time the credits roll, you’ll want to see more of these characters. You might even want to travel back in time and save one or two.
So, the end is here, another Reality Games game faces its final curtain. Where it ranks among the other games is something I may look at soon. However, this won’t be my final review on the game as I hope to also review it as a whole. But, for now, let me say episode six has just about everything you could want from it. Yes, it can get annoying when you can’t interrupt people at specific points but it’s wise to remember it’s a game and not real life. It follows a structure and without these beats, there would be no story.
Therefore, it’s easier to look past that. I could be selfish and say I wish it was longer. But, everything has its time and everything ends. Though, you may want to stay right to the end to see if that statement is true or not…
