Juicy Star Wars Rumors
It is rumor time again, and we have a bunch of big rumors for you. This batch of rumors pertains directly to Star Wars: Rogue One and Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, and there is a few bombshells in here. Could we see Han Solo make an appearance in Rogue One?
According to The Force Awakens concept artist Iain McCaig, Lawrence Kasdan (Empire Strikes Back) wrote a script for Han Solo: A Star Wars Story before he began the script for Star Wars The Force Awakens. At a conference in New Zealand via StarWarsNewsNet, McCaig said the script is:
“By far the best Star Wars script, and one of the best scripts period, that I have ever read. I laughed, I cried, I did all the things you should do when reading a good script. You’re in for a treat.”
McCaig also said that George Lucas wanted to be involved with new Star Wars films, and that he even penned a script for Episode VII that was “outright rejected” by Disney.This reinforces previous rumors that Lucas had written a treatment for Episode VII that was turned down. Could this be the reason that Lucas is so bitter about The Force Awakens? It appears that this may be the very reason.
I would be upset if I got told that my script wasn’t good enough for a franchise I created. Lucas even apparently brought in McCaig and another artist to fully realize his vision. That is a lot of effort to put into something, just to be told it’s not good enough.
Vader’s Force Ghost?
There were also a few versions of the script that included Anakin/Vader’s Force Ghost, but these were each shot down. The reasons for this are unknown, but there was artwork for the concept in The Art of the Force Awakens book. Included in this report, was news that Disney executives were “reluctant to include non-Caucasian characters” in the film, but J.J. Abrams was insistent on including a multi-cultural cast.
This is news that doesn’t surprise me, but it is refreshing to see that Disney is allowing their directors to keep them on the straight and narrow. Finn and Poe Dameron are welcomed additions to the Star Wars universe. Unfortunately, for now, there are no reports of Han Solo showing up in Rogue One, but we can hope.
