‘Joker 2’ Reports Could Be Wrong

Yesterday, news broke that Joker 2 was coming, and that director Todd Phillips was coming back to helm the film. The report went on to say that he also obtained the rights to do another DC origin story.

Now, it seems these reports were wrong. Joker 2 isn’t happening quite yet.

Deadline released a report disputing these claims. According to multiple insiders, there’s no deal for Joker 2, and Phillips and co-writer Scott Silver haven’t been approached to pen one.

The initial report said that Phillips met with Warner Bros. chief Toby Emmerich to pitch an entire portfolio of DC origin films, but the Deadline report says this never happened. The meeting never happened and Phillips doesn’t want to head up such an endeavor.

The Deadline report goes on to say earlier reports that Martin Scorsese considered directing the first Joker is also not true. If you need more reinforcements of this, all you have to do is look to his recent statements about superhero films.

Although fans would love a sequel, for the time being, the studio has no plans for now.
