With all of the turmoil at Marvel over the firing of James Gunn and the cast on the ropes about whether they would continue on without Gunn in the directors’ chair, many wonder if they will make the planned Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

It is no secret that Marvel jumped the Gunn (pardon the pun) when they fired Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn. The director was in the MCU drivers’ seat.

He was a consultant on both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, and Kevin Feige tapped him to mold the MCU moving into Phase 4.

Members of the cast shared their support for Gunn in the wake of his firing. Dave Bautista even went as far as to say he wouldn’t continue to portray Drax the Destroyer without James Gunn.

With all of the turmoil surrounding the film, will Marvel ever proceed with the third film in the franchise? In an interview with Variety during the Captain Marvel red carpet event, Kraglin (Sean Gunn) says that he thinks everything will work itself out and the franchise will move forward in time:

I don’t know exactly how that’s all gonna work…but I feel like we are going to make the third movie,

I’m excited to make it, I think it’s a disservice to the fans if we didn’t make it and I know the people who worked on the Guardians movies are really a family, and we’re gonna come together and make the best movie we can regardless of who’s in charge…

I just have this feeling everything’s gonna work itself out.

There is no doubt Marvel will get back to the franchise in time, but how soon that will be remains a mystery.

Captain Marvel hits theaters tomorrow night (March 7).
