‘Morbius’: Sony Pictures Finally Drops Final Trailer

Rejoice! The release date for Sony/Marvel’s Morbius is finally upon us. 2 years ago, the first trailer for the Jared Leto-led superhero vampire flick hit the internet. 2 years! Now Sony gives us the final trailer for the film.

The film adaptation’s based on the Marvel comic “Morbius the Living Vampire.” In 1971, the comics codes changed, allowing monsters and vampires to appear in comics.

Stan Lee took the opportunity to commission writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane to come up with a vampire villain for Spider-Man. The character debuted in “Amazing Spider-Man #101.”

The character began as a villian, but soon became a popular anti-hero for Marvel Comics.

The official synopsis for Morbius from Sony Pictures reads:

One of the most compelling and conflicted characters in Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters comes to the big screen. Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius.

Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first, it seems to be a radical success, the darkness inside him is unleashed.

Will good override evil – or will the good Doctor succumb to his mysterious new urges?

Jared Leto stars as the vampire hero, and Matt Smith stars as Loxias Crown, the film’s villain.

Along with Leto and Michael Keaton returns as The Vulture, and will also star Jared Harris (The Terror) as Emil Nikols, and Tyrese Gibson (Fast 5) as Simon Stroud. 

The film’s penned by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Power Rangers), and directed by Daniel Espinosa (Life). Let us know in the comments what you think about Sony Pictures newest Marvel movie.
