Caution! Huge Avengers: Endgame spoilers in the trailer and in this article. Proceed with caution.
Hot on the heels of Avengers: Endgame breaking $2 billion at the Box Office, the new trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home is here.
Spoilers from Avengers: Endgame are in the trailer and should only be watched if you have seen the movie.
Check out the trailer below:
There’s a lot to unpack in the trailer. Firstly, Peter (Tom Holland) wants a vacation from being a Superhero. After the events of Avengers: Endgame it isn’t surprising.
Unfortunately, Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) won’t allow it as he introduces Parker to Quentin Beck (Jake Gyllenhaal) also known as Mysterio.
It’s also in the introduction scene where we find out Mysterio is from Earth but it’s not the same one as Peter. The Multiverse has finally come to the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
This opens up endless possibilities to the future of the universe, and it’s thanks to the Snap.
Another fun interaction from the trailer is Peter trying to confess his love for MJ (Zendaya). However, MJ surprises Peter by revealing she knows he’s Spider-Man.
Of course, this could be a set-up for a joke in the movie where she laughs it off as a joke. Hopefully though, she will have figured it out and will stand with Peter.
There also looks to be various costumes for Spider-Man rather than just his regular red and blue. Director Jon Watts explained this is so Peter can remain undetected as Spider-Man in the different countries.
Furthermore, Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) is back and is teaming up with Spidey. It seems both of them believe there needs to be a new Iron Man, and Peter has to step up.
This seems to be a set-up for Peter to take a step closer to becoming the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man we all know and love.
In the final scene of the trailer, Happy tries to help Peter’s friends run from the destruction. It’s interesting to see Happy interact with them, and maybe it will open up the exploration of Peter’s dual identities.
The villains will be the Elementals, but theories suggest they are only the creations of Mysterio. Given his villain status in the Comics it wouldn’t be surprising.
Spider-Man: Far From Home releases July 2 2019.
