‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ Still Doesn’t Have a Title, Don’t Believe the Rumors

It has been a busy week for Star Wars fans, in what looked to be the leaked title for Star Wars: Episode IX. The online rumor stated that the title for the upcoming J.J. Abrams film is Star Wars: Balance of the Force. It couldn’t be more wrong.

Although Star Wars: Balance of the Force isn’t a bad name for the film, it is a name that already exists in Star Wars lore. The was the name given to an old Star Wars digital pinball game.

This wasn’t the only official name rumor to pop up online this week. Another name surfaced as a possible leaked title – Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Unfortunately, this was debunked soon after leaking online, as it is confirmed to be the title of a new ride coming to Disneyland soon.

The search for a name was lit ablaze this week mainly due to tweets from C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels. His tweets hinted that a big SW announcement is coming soon.

Yesterday, Lucasfilm Story Group member Pablo Hidalgo tweeted that if the film has a title, then it is unknown to even them. The story group’s purpose is to serve as continuity checkers for the franchise. If they are unaware of a title, then one probably doesn’t exist.

Production on Episode IX will wrap soon. The first trailer for the film is expected to hit soon after. A good time for the first trailer is at this years’ Star Wars Celebration Expo in April. This would be the best time for the first trailer and the official title announcement. That is, if the title survives any possible leaks.
