‘Stranger Things’ Season 2 News Bits and Gets A Barb Centered Promo

Stranger Things, Netflix

Netflix has given us our first taste of the second season of their hit show Stranger Things. Unfortunately, there isn’t much int he way of new footage, but it is an interesting promo to keep the show in the back of your mind until season 2 hits the streaming service.

The promo is actually a news update from the 1980s based in Indiana, and features actual veteran anchor Brenda Wood, reporting on the disappearance of Barb and commenting on Eleven’s short trip to Bradley’s diner and the supermarket. It appears that this may actually be a deleted scene from the show, but it is great. My mind instantly went right back to the two days I spent binging on Stranger Things. I cannot wait for season two to hit Netflix!

Season 2 will apparently not have Barb returning, and will take place an entire year later. In an interview with IGN, Matt Duffer gave us an idea how season 2 will answer questions and when it will take place. He also talks about whether Barb will be returning for the second season:

“I can’t see it happening, but Barb will not be forgotten. We’ll make sure there’s some justice for Barb. People get very frustrated, understandably, that the town doesn’t seem to be really dealing with Barb. That stuff is all happening. We’re just not spending any screen time on it.”

‘Stranger Things’ will tap into Steven Spielberg’s 1980s films.

He went on to talk about what is going on with the show in season 2, and when it takes place:

“These characters have changed and the audience has to sort of fill in those gaps of what went on in that year.”

“Season One actually takes place over the course of six or seven days – it’s a really short period of time, so part of what we want to do with hypothetical Season 2 is to explore the repercussions of everything that happened.”

“You have to jump a year. Because, like, Gaten [Matarazzo, who plays Dustin in the series], his voice has already dropped quite a bit, to the point where we couldn’t even do ADR [automated dialogue replacement] with him. We had to pitch it way up. It’s dropped. He’s grown. As much as I would love to have it be Christmas right after that, it’s just not feasible, so we’re going to skip a year. They’ll be a year older, and all their changes they’re going through, we’ll take that into account and kind of work that into the show.”

Stranger Things season 2 premiere’s on Netflix at sometime during 2017.
