Team behind ‘Making a Murderer’ Have New Series

Making a Murderer, Netflix

The Netflix series Making a Murderer took streaming by storm, and kept watchers on the edge of their seats for weeks. Now, Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos (the team behind Making a Murderer) are working on a new TV series, according to The Live Feed. The pair is also set to direct the new series. Teaming up with George Clooney and Grant Heslov’s Smokehouse Pictures, the new series will be called America’s Most Admired Lawbreaker.

Making a Murderer became a must-see during the holidays this past year, and took Ricciardi and Demos a decade to chronicle. The show follows the life of Steven Avery, a man who wrongly served 18 years in prison before being exonerated. Whether it was due to corruption of the state, or the true malicious nature of Avery, he was convicted of killing a photographer just two years later. If you have yet to see Making a Murderer, I highly suggest watching it.

In an official announcement, Sonar CEO Thomas Lesinski had this to say:

“We couldn’t be more excited to be in business with George and Grant and their talented team at Smokehouse. Smokehouse has a stellar track record of delivering commercial and critically acclaimed content. Smokehouse will be a great partner for Sonar Entertainment, as the two companies align perfectly in our approaches to premium TV programming.”

Making a Murderer, pills/ drugs
Pharmaceutical companies are about to come to call.

By The Numbers…

America’s Most Admired Lawbreaker is the true story of a pharmaceutical company that created a strong drug. They marketed it aggressively to the elderly and children, as they hid and manipulated data about its side effects. The company agreed to pay over $2 billion in settlements and penalties, despite making $30 billion in sales of the drug worldwide.

Nicki Paluga will aid in adapting a story fueled by greed and deceit. The series is based on a series of Huffington Post articles by Steven Brill. There is no word on how many episodes the series will consist of, and the project has yet to land a studio.
