The Witcher is a Netflix series based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski. Although, the franchise is possibly more popular for its video game adaptations by CD Projekt Red.
The first season of Netflix’s adaptation of The Witcher was released in 2019 to mixed reviews from fans and critics. It stars Henry Cavill as Geralt the Witcher, along with Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as Cirilla.
The filming for season 2 is a tale in itself due to the pandemic and Henry Cavill’s injuries.
However, the wait is nearly over.
A trailer showcasing footage from seasons 1 and 2 is out.
Take a look at it below:
The trailer gives us the best look at Vesemir, the leader of the Witcher’s at Kaer Mohren. Fans of Killing Eve will recognise the actor Kim Bodina as Konstantin. It appears he’ll have a hand in helping Geralt train Ciri as a Witcher too.
Furthermore, it also shows the rest of the Witchers, and them realising Geralt has changed. When asked what, or who, changed him, Geralt only has one response.
Yennefer.
Unfortunately for her, most people think she’s dead. She’s been captured by the enemy and needs to fight her way through them. Anyone who knows Yennefer in the books or games know she’ll never go down without a fight.
Let’s hope the same goes for the Netflix version.
The trailer also confirms the release date for the series. We don’t have much longer to wait as season 2 of The Witcher drops on Netflix from the 17th of December.
Furthermore, if that isn’t enough, two clips from the upcoming season are out too. One of them shows Geralt talk with Nivellen. The other shows Geralt preparing to fight a Bruxa.
In The Witcher lore, a Bruxa is a powerful vampire masquerading as a beautiful woman until it needs to feed. Agnes Bjorn is playing Vereena, a Bruxa from the books.
She’s the only woman who loves Nivellen. There’s every chance the second clip ends just before her introduction.
The Witcher season 2 releases on the 17th of December on Netflix.
