Warner Brothers follows up their epic first trailer for DC Aquaman with a full 5-minute clip of Aquaman goodness. The first trailer really gave us a firm grasp on the scale of the film, but this clip hints at more of the plot. It looks great, and takes Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry from a one-line jokester to a full-fledged superhero:
The trailer gives us what we want from a second trailer, MORE! It has more underwater battles, fighting, an extended scene of a battle with Black Manta. In the Black Manta scene, we see Arthur and Mera trying to escape he and his minions in an epic rooftop chase scene.
The other scene with Arthur and Mera in the Sahara Desert is also a great one. In it, Arthur and Mera are seeking some ancient Atlantean machine in the middle of the desert. When the key is inserted into the device, nothing happens. This is when a little detail in the film shines. Mera needs water to activate the device, so she pulls it from Arthur’s body.
It is the little details that will make this world shine, and allow audiences to buy into this wonderful new world. This is one of the best things James Wan is doing with a property like Aquaman.
The two extended scenes in the trailer were the same scenes featured at this years’ San Diego Comic-Con Warner Bros. panel. The reactions to the clip were great in Hall H, and now that the whole world can see the scenes, we are all amazed as well. This film looks a lot more epic than its sad, gloomy predecessors.
If these scenes are any indication, there will be a lot of action in Aquaman. The film stars Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Djimon Hounsou, Dolph Lundgren, and Willem Dafoe.
