One question on the minds of millions since the snap-in Avengers: Infinity War, was how Marvel will pull-off Avengers 4 without half of the heroes we know and love? It is an interesting thought, but the rumor mill consensus is that time travel will be a fundamental part of the film.
This idea first came to life when leaked set images from Avengers 4 hit the internet, and it showed a recreation of the Battle of New York scenes with Ant-Man in them. As you may know, the Scott Lang was not Ant-Man at the time of the first Avengers so this instantly raised a few brows.
Another interesting thing seen in the photos are strange devices in the hands of the Avengers. Check out the images below:
So what does this all mean? The devices all match, except for Scott Lang’s which is actually a part of his suit design. This infers that the tech was designed by Hank Pym for the Quantum Realm.
But all of this brings up an interesting dilemma. How does Scott make it out of the Quantum Realm after being trapped there at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp? (Pssst…its probably the time vortexes Janet Van Dyne told him to avoid.)
Since the credits rolled on Ant-Man and the Wasp, director Peyton Reed was asked by The Huffington Post if time travel does play a part in the film, and his answer is pretty straightforward:
Based on the science that we’ve set up in the first movie and this one. I won’t rule out the possibility. Because, again, we are dealing with a time vortex. That could happen.
In what capacity could time travel come into play in Avengers 4? Is Lang the only time traveler, or is Tony Stark coming along for the ride as well? His older look and wispy highlight-streaked hair seem to hint at that as well. There are just too many questions left after the events of Avengers: Infinity War.
