Apple closed the deal with producers DHX Media for completely new content based on the Peanuts franchise. The new content will be added to Apple’s secret untitled streaming service set to launch in 2019.
The comics chronicle the many adventures of Charlie Brown and his dog Snoopy. The project will not just be a show, but it will begin as a series of small STEM-based animations. The series will open up with Snoopy as an astronaut, followed by a new series, more shorts, and multiple specials.
Apple hasn’t officially announced the streaming service. Early leaks indicate that the service will be free for current and future owners of Apple products.
The report comes soon after the announcement of Netflix teaming up with the Ronald Dahl estate to make works based on his novels. Some of Dahl’s most-popular works include James and the Giant Peach, The BFG, Matilda, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
