There is a new Predator film in production from Iron Man 3 director Shane Black. Black starred in the original Predator movie, alongside of Arnold Schwarzenegger. This is news that should have a lot of people excited, unless your name is Arnold Schwarzenegger. Arnold is not happy with the new Predator film at all.
In a recent interview with Yahoo Movies, Schwarzenegger stressed his dislike of the script:
They asked me, and I read it, and I didn’t like it, whatever they offered. So I’m not going to do that, no. Except if there’s a chance that they rewrite it, or make it a more significant role. But the way it is now, no, I won’t do that.
What caused his reaction? What was it in the script that made Arnold turn his back on one of the roles that created his career? According to Shane Black’s Twitter account, the reason for Arnold not wanting to be part of the film is the size of the role he was offered.
@iamJermaineP @MPredator24 Me too… I spoke with him, I think it was that he didn’t have enough to do. Enough presence in the film.

So what was Dutch going to do in this film? A report by Alien vs Predator Galaxy says that Dutch had a small role at the end of the film to tease a sequel. Could this mean that Dutch was to be the main character in the next film, and possible beyond that? There is no way to know, because now, Arnold is out.
Black wants this film to feel unique, and he is striving for wonder in the new Predator:
“the same sense of wonderment and newness that Close Encounters had when it first came out. It doesn’t have to be fifty Predators riding motorcycles. It just has to feel like a powerful story that has a lot of flavors and textures.”
