Black Adam is a character DC Fans should be familiar with. At this point, I think comic books fan probably know who he is too. That’s down to the man who’ll be playing him in the Black Adam movie. Before there was even an MCU, news broke Dwayne Johnson would suit up as the Anti-Hero Black Adam.
At today’s DC FanDome fans were treated to a first look at the movie. This includes quick glimpses at the costumes. However, there’s something even more… shocking in the first look.

The teaser doesn’t show much, but it says a lot. Where Shazam is powerful, he’s not as refined as the man in black. In the small clip, we literally see Black Adam incinerate a man with lightning. Honestly, it looks like he’s going to be difficult to fight.
I guess that’s why it’s good we have a Justice Society of America to take him on. Unfortunately, we didn’t see much of them except for quick teases. We do know Aldis Hodge is Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher… and Pierce Brosnan as Dr Fate.
The teaser also comes with our first official look at the costume. While we don’t see much, there’s enough to know it looks great. DC has been firing on all cylinders when it comes to their costumes in recent years.
Thanks to the teaser, the excitement for the movie is building. It’s strange to think at one point we never knew if this movie would happen. Furthermore, it’s even stranger to think it’s over ten years since Dwayne Johnson’s name was attached to the character.
Whether we’ll see Black Adam and Shazam face off one day is up in the air. If they do, good luck to Billy Batson.
Until then, Black Adam flies into theatres on the 29th of July 2022.
