‘The Batman’ Trailer Revealed at DC FanDome

Starring Robert Pattison and Zoe Kravits, and directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman is one of the most anticipated comic book movies ever. It charts Bruce Wayne’s first year as the Dark Knight while bringing in several of his rogues gallery.

We already know Colin Farrell is playing the Penguin and Paul Dano is bringing the Riddler to life. However, from the trailer, it seems the latter won’t be the same Riddler we know. This one is going to be more cerebral, and sort of reminds me of Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs.

Take a look at the main trailer below:

The Batman sees a young Bruce Wayne in his early days. From the trailer, it looks like Oswald Cobblepot is also in his early days before he becomes the Penguin. The Riddler ends up in Arkham Asylum quite fast in the trailer. If that’s in the first part of the movie, it’ll be intriguing to see where it goes next.

Although, since we don’t see who’s at the other side of the glass, what if it’s not the Riddler? Rumours have long said we could see the Joker in the movie. However, I’d be surprised if it is anyone else other than the Riddler. There are already a few villains in the movie so the Joker could be too much.

The cinematography of The Batman looks beautiful. There are certain shots just in the trailer that are already contenders for one perfect shot.

Our first look at Andy Serkis as Alfred is in the trailer too. He looks great in the role, and with his casting, perhaps we’ll see a different side to the character. Another point from the trailer is Selina Kyle. Much like her future beau, Selina’s in the early days of being Catwoman.

Zoe Kravits looks perfect as the character. It’s almost as if she’s been ripped out of the comics, especially the more recent ones. I’m looking forward to seeing more of her in the actual movie. It wouldn’t surprise me if she ends up as the favorite.

Of course, that could easily go to Robert Pattinson’s Batman. This will be the first time audiences see a Noir-style Batman. Where the others focus more on his action, The Batman is making more of what makes him the world’s greatest detective.
