Part cautionary parenting tale, part supervillain origin story, Brightburn is another example of the bad side about superheroes becoming a reality.
Parenting comes with its fair share of uncertainty. Most of the time, parent are left guessing the correct path for thier child, and for-the-most-part, those choices work out for the better. Sometimes they don’t. If you needed a reason to not want to be a parent, this movie is just that.
Brightburn is the tale of a young farming couple, the Breyers (David Denman and Elizabeth Banks), who find a baby in a crashed spaceship on thier Farm. They decide to raise the child as thier own.
Brendan (Jackson A. Dunn) grows up in a loving and nurturing home. But bullying turns him into something more akin to General Zod, than Superman. This tale is similar to Superman, if the Man of Steel turned bad and took out his anger on everyone around him.
David Yarovesky’s sci-fi/horror film Brightburn has James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) attached to the project as well. Check out the second trailer for Brightburn below:
Brightburn hits theaters on May 24.
