Batman: The Court of Owls
Batman is DC’s most famous character and he comes with a plethora of amazing stories. Created by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, Batman: The Court of Owls introduces a dangerous organization who’ve been pulling the strings in Gotham for centuries.
They are the wealthiest of Gotham’s elite and control everything that goes on within the City. Using his wealth from Wayne Enterprises, Bruce Wayne decides to reshape Gotham’s future. It puts him in the crosshairs of the Court of Owls and the Wayne Family’s dark past is revealed.
The organization uses assassins known as Talons to put down their enemies. The Talons are fierce and stop at nothing but they face a formidable opponent in Batman. They want to prove their better than Batman and it leads to the uncertainty of Gotham’s future.
The Court of Owls provides a demanding and dark story for Batman. There are two ways they can be used in the movies. The first idea sees a younger Batman finding out about them and it leads him on a wild goose chase.
It will change everything he knows about his crusade and forces him down a dark path.
It would also force the younger Batman to improve his detective skills. It gives him a reason to find out his family isn’t what he thinks and pushes him further away from being Bruce Wayne. The arc finishes with Bruce Wayne being the disguise and Batman his true face.
The other option is an experienced Batman trying to prove their existence. He warns the GCPD, and other Heroes, but nobody believes there’s an organization molding Gotham’s history. It pushes Batman down a dark path and forces him to work alone. Meaning more detective work for Bruce, and long hours while combatting the Talons.
It can even be used as a set-up for a bigger event film down the line. The idea sees Batman team-up with the rest of the Bat-Family and the Birds of Prey as they try to expose the Court of Owls.
With the organization being everywhere, it’d provide an interesting turn where even Batman’s allies couldn’t be trusted.
In doing this, Batman is finally given a live-action adaptation that focuses on his detective skills. It also gives the audience a chance to see Bruce Wayne go undercover.
