DC Comic Storylines the DCEU Should Adapt

Green Arrow Rebirth Era

Green Arrow is more popular thanks to the Arrow show. Unfortunately, Arrow also caused problems with the Green Arrow legacy. Introducing other characters into his life, Oliver Queen of the show is distanced from the one in the source material.

It proved detrimental with fans of the character and worked for those who knew less going into it.

DC can rectify this with the DCEU. They can show audiences who the Green Arrow is. Audiences can finally see a wise-cracking Green Arrow who helps the underprivileged and falls in love with the Black Canary.

Seeing Jurnee Smollett-Bell’s Dinah with an Oliver can only make her portrayal even better. (and that’s saying something considering how great she is already).

There’s a recent run in the comics by Benjamin Percy that would fit this. The first volume of Green Arrow during the Rebirth continuity introduces Oliver Queen in Seattle.

His company is taken from him and he goes after a child trafficking gang.

While he’s there, he meets Dinah Lance, the Black Canary. Furthermore, it introduces the Ninth Circle. They’re an organization similar to the Court of Owls. Although, Ninth Circle features several family members and friends to Oliver.

The run also sees the transformation of Seattle to Star City.

The film can take place after Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey. The Black Canary comes to Seattle on a mission for the Birds and meets Oliver. Seeing those two on-screen would be amazing for their fans.

With how the Black Canary was treated on Arrow, it will also serve as retribution.

There’s also something about seeing billionaire Oliver Queen lose his money and fight for the poor that is needed in the current climate. He might not say “you have failed this city” but he will have someone by his side to keep him right.

After all, without the Black Canary, the Green Arrow tends to lose his way. An honorable mention goes to Tom Taylor’s Injustice 2 portrayal of the characters. Birds of Prey actress Jurnee Smollett-Bell uses Injustice 2 for her Black Canary portrayal.

Whoever plays the Green Arrow needs sizzling chemistry with her.
