‘Community’: Six Seasons… and a Movie is Official!
Community was a TV series about a group of strangers who form a Spanish study group. Actually, it was about a once sleazy lawyer who lied about his qualifications. When he was forced actually to get the degree, he went to Greendale Community College and spent more time trying to date another student. The study group was his guise to go on a date with her. However, she saw through him and invited someone else in their Spanish class to the group.
He then invited someone else and so forth. This led to Jeff, Britta, Annie, Abed, Shirley, Troy and Pierce becoming a community. Community stars Joel Mchale, Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Donald Glover and Chevy Chase respectively. Jim Rash, Ken Jeong and John Oliver were also part of the series.
Ever since the season 6 finale in 2015 fans have wondered if we’d see the characters again. In the series, Abed coins the phrase “six seasons and a movie.” Community got its six seasons but where was the movie? Over the years, the cast and creator, Dan Harmon, have teased it would possibly happen. It was only last month when Harmon teased it was a matter of “when”.
Well, human beings get ready to go back to community college. The streaming service Peakcock has answered your wishes. Community is fully wrapping up its story with six seasons… and a movie! That’s right, the Community movie is officially greenlit!
According to Variety, Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong are coming back. There’s no word on Yvette Nicole Brown or Donald Glover. It’s no surprise Chevy Chase isn’t returning. I’m hoping if they can’t be in the main cast, Yvette and Donald return in a cameo at the least. Also, what about Professor Duncan? Let’s get John Oliver back!
Community has a rich set of characters. We’d be here all day listing everyone it would be great to see back. There are some we, unfortunately, won’t due to them passing away, and I hope the movie mentions them. I know I can’t wait to see what hilarious hijinks the group end up in. What could possibly bring them back to Greendale? And who will be directing it? Dan Harmon and Andrew Guest are co-writing. Could we see the Russo Brothers back for it?
