Could the Red Skull Make a Big Marvel Comeback in the MCU Future?
Avengers: Infinity War was an epic set piece, and although the film ushers in a lot of big changes for the MCU, it also reignited chances for a few characters to return. The Red Skull has been absent from the MCU.
That is until Infinity War revealed where he went after the Space Stone took him at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger. Does this mean that the Red Skull might have a future in the MCU moving past the events of Avengers 4?

In a recent Q&A on Twitter, Infinity War directors Anthony and Joe Russo revealed that there might be more Red Skull in future Marvel films. The duo were asked what happens to RS after Thanos has the Soul Stone? The Russos say:
“Red Skull is free to leave Vormir, and he is also free to pursue his desire for an Infinity Stone.”
This leaves a world of opportunity for the return of another huge comics villain. The character was sent into space by the Tesseract at the end of The First Avenger. He spent the next 73 years protecting the Soul Stone. First portrayed by Hugo Weaving (The Matrix), Ross Marquand (The Walking Dead) took over the character for Infinity War.
Returning the Red Skull to the MCU in some capacity is now wide open. Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus, who previously wrote all 3 Captain America movies, said that returning the Red Skull to the MCU was a big thing on their list.
The character has an extensive history in the comics, and fans yearned for his return to the Captain America franchise. Now that he is back, some additional storylines are available for pillaging or inspiration. What ways could the Red Skull come back in force? The possibilities are intriguing to say the least.
