How Desperate Are Bond Producers to Keep Daniel Craig? Very!

Speculation about Daniel Craig’s future as  the iconic 007 have been in overdrive the past couple of years. Every story paints a bleak portrait of Craig staying on. Like many of the actors that inhabited the role before him, the Bond m0vies are both time-consuming and take a physical toll on the actor. As such, like Connery and Moore before him, Craig has been making noise that every Bond movie will be his last. Reports are coming to light that B0nd producers are attempting to make Craig’s decision a little bit easier, like $150 million for the next two films.

That’s right, numerous sites are reporting that Craig has been offered $150 million by producers for two more Bond films. This comes on back of Craig’s comments about how he felt about doing another Bond. From Time Out London

“It’s a drag. The best acting is when you’re not concerned about the surface. And Bond is the opposite of that. You have to be bothered about how you’re looking. It’s a struggle. I know that how Bond wears a suit and walks into a room is important. But as an actor I don’t want to give a fuck about what I look like! So I have to play with both things. In a way that works, as that’s Bond: he looks good and he doesn’t give a fuck what you think he looks like.”

Daniel Craig in No Lose Situation

Daniel Craig’s reign as 007 has been the most profitable of any one to date. Thus, it is understandable that Bond producers are a little reluctant to give that up. As well, the list  off replacements are all unknown quantities where it pertains to the massive stress ball that is the Bond franchise. One can only assume Bond producers are not ready to hand any of them the keys to the kingdom. At least, not without a fair. Given the momentum the last two Bond films have advanced the franchise, it  becomes easier to justify the purposed payout.

According to Radar Online, Bond producers are hoping Craig will steer the ship while they figure out who is next. Further motivating Bond producers, Sony Pictures mega money plan to renew their distribution deal. According to Radar

“According to the source, Sony should be announcing any day that the studio is re-upping the distribution rights for the Bond series, meaning billions of dollars in revenue.

“Then they will shoot two more films, which will be made virtually back-to-back, preferably featuring Daniel as 007 before he passes the figurative baton to someone else for a third movie that will mark the start of the new era,” said the source.”

Craig’s time as Bond is nearing its end. Producers are hoping he’s not in a hurry, though.
