Ezra Miller to Take a Crack at Writing the Script for ‘The Flash’

Justice League, Warner Brothers Pictures

Being The Flash on the big screen is not always enough. Now, Ezra Miller (Flash Superfan) will write the script for the DCEU The Flash film. It’s an interesting move, considering a script was already written for the film.

Does this spell bad news for The Flash? Miller has great help with the script, comics author Grant Morrison will team up with Miller to write a new script for the film.

Miller’s status as Barry Allen might be in jeopardy, and this script determines his ultimate fate. The last time the DCEU tried this, The Batman, things didn’t end well. It appears that Warner Brothers is open to recasting the character and staring over.

Actually, Warner Brothers seem o.k. with recasting anyone in the DCEU. The film is currently stuck in development hell, while creative minds and visions clash.

The studio and the films’ current writer/directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (Game Night, Vacation) want to take a light-hearted approach to the material, while Miller wants a darker take on the comics.

The two parties are working on a compromise of both tones, an ongoing negotiation since last year. He and Morrison are working on the script that could see turn in as early as next week.

Miller’s contract with Warner Brothers finishes this year, which may force the hand of Warner Brothers to make a decision sooner rather tahn later.
