First Trailer for Disney’s Newest Mastermind, ‘Artemis Fowl’

Disney drops a trailer that was only rumored until very recently. The first trailer is here for the adaptation of Eoin Colfer’s amazing book series, Artemis Fowl.

In the film, Artemis is a 12-year-old genius and descendant of a big family tree full of criminal masterminds. Fowl must face-off against a hidden race of fairies in a contest of strength and cunning. Adding a little fuel to the fire is the fact that the fairies might be behind the disappearance of his father.

Artemis Fowl stars Ferdia Shaw, Lara McDonnell, Tamara Smart, Nonzo Anozie, Josh Gad, and Judi Dench. Kenneth Branagh, the director responsible for Thor, Cinderella, and Murder on the Orient Express is in the director’s chair for the film.

Plans for a film have been in the works since 2001. It wasn’t until Disney picked p the project in 2013, that the film gained steam. The film will cover the events of the first two books rather than taking a direct book-to-film adaptation.

Some notable character castings are Judi Dench as Commander Root, Josh Gad (Frozen) as Mulch Dighgums, and Irish newcomer Ferdia Shaw as Artemis. The Film began filming in March 2018, shooting in Northern Ireland and Ho Chi Minh City.
