Hold the Phones, Netflix Lands ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ Series

The first rumors of this acquisition came in May of last year, but now the news is official. Netflix picked up the rights to bring The Baby-Sitters Club to series. The series will adapt Ann M. Martin’s extrememly popular book series.

The story follows a group of friends from Stoneybrook, Connecticut who run a babysitting service. A number of big issues and situations arise as the team pick up jobs, including divorce, racism, inclusion, family issues, and jealousy to name a few.

Michael De Luca Productions and Walden Media will produce the series. Rachael Shukert (GLOW) and Lucia Aniello (Broad City) will direct and executive produce.

The Baby-Sitters Club was published by Scholastic from 1986 to 2000. The series sold over 180 million copies since 1986. It was a 1995 feature film, and a 1990s series on HBO.
