‘Percy Jackson’ Television Series Comes to Disney+
The big screen adaptation of Percy Jackson & the Olympians was a disaster to the fans and the author, Rick Riordan. After almost a decade, Percy Jackson makes a big return in the form of a new television series for Disney+.
Riordan announced a new television series based on his famous books in a video on his Twitter account. The author goes on to say that negotiations with Disney took months.
In an additional tweet, Riordan says Percy Jackson & the Olympians returns in a live-action format, and based on the entire 5-book series. The first season focuses on The Lightning Thief:
Hey Percy Jackson fans, for the past decade, you’ve worked hard to champion a faithful on-screen adaptation of Percy Jackson’s world. Some of you have even suggested that it would be a great series for Disney+. We couldn’t agree more!
We can’t say much more at this stage but we are very excited about the idea of a live-action series of the highest quality, following the storyline of the original Percy Jackson five-book series, starting with The Lightning Thief in season one.
Rest argued that Becky [Riordan] and I will be involved in person in every aspect of the show. There will be much more news in the future, but for now, we have a lot of work to do! Buckle up, demigods.

The author said the Disney/ Fox merger slowed negotiations in another Tweet from January. Riordan never skipped a chance to dump on the films. He thought that the movies were too much like Harry Potter.
